The umpire will delay the game until he or she receives a lineup card from the visiting team. The home team's lineup card will not be accepted either until both team are able to give one to the empire. The lineup card is important because it lists what players will be playing during the game. If the cards are not given to the umpire teams may try and cheat by switching starters. This why it is important to give umpires lineup cards before a game starts.
