Why is internatiuon trade better for all countries than an attempt for each country to produce everything it needs?

    When nations trade, they get access to things that they cannot produce with their land. For example, let’s say that India had a surplus of spices while America had a surplus of tobacco. They would trade so that they no longer have a surplus, and America would get spices that they wouldn’t normally have while India would get tobacco that they wouldn’t normally have.
