How reasonable is it for every country to follow policies aimed at increasing net exports

Imports and exports are important economic activities in any country across the world. Imports allow other countries to supplement their rich resources to other countries while export might do the like as well. Policies are important to be followed to avoid national conflicts on the basis of taxes, tariffs, rates and much more. This disrupts the balance of trade.
