    The equipment was dangerous but it was easily operable because people would do a single thing without knowledge of the entire process. That's why they were easily replaceable which meant that they were forced to work for smaller wages in dangerous conditions. The long shifts were forced because they'd get fired if they didn't want to work. Government didn't regulate it because it was new and nobody expected for it to boom like that.
