    Townshend Acts were referred to or known as series of rule of laws that were passed by British government which were on American soil in late 1700's. They started placing new taxes and then took away most of the freedom from colonists which mostly including the following:

They also set up courts in order to prosecute the smugglers. This most prominently gave the Britishers the right to investigate the houses of colonists.
