How are excise taxes and customs duties similar? How are they different?

    Excise Duty is the tax levy charged by Govt. on the goods produced within the territory While Custom Duty is the tax levy charged by Govt. on the goods produced outside the country territory. Customs duties are basically excise taxes on imports.
