In a titration 25.0 ml of a. 20 M NaOH solution is used to neutralize 10.0 ml of HCl. Write the equation for this neutralization reaction and calculate the molarity of the acid.

    Equation:

    NaOH + HCl - - - > NaCl + H20

    1mol 1mol

    no. of moles of NaOH : 20 * (25.0:1000) = 0.5 mol

    NaCl : HCl

    1mol : 1 mol

    0.5mol:0.5mol

    HCl molarity: 0.5 mol : (10:1000) = 50 M
