Does ionization energies increase or decrease going from Li to Na to K?

    Ionization energy increases as you move down the column of the periodic table, this is because according to the Bohr model, we can see that the distance between the valence electrons and the nucleus increases, so there is less of an electrostatic interaction between the 2 charges.

    Thus it is easier to move the first electron for K in its valence shell than Li.
