    Legumes are foods which are high in proteins and carbohydrates but low in fat. They include peas, beans soya beans among other. These foods are excellent sources of proteins and also provide other nutrients vitamins and minerals. The protein makes them a high-quality source of food for food-insecure populations whose diet is deficient of proteins.
