Why the compound containing calcium and chlorine is classified as an ionic compound.

    Becuase an ionic compound consist of a metal and a non metal element, which is separated, the metals on the left and the non-metals on the right of the periodic table.

    It contains metal, and non-metal. Metal gives electrons forming positive ion, non-metal takes electrons forming negative ion. So, between metal and non-metal ionic bond is formed
