    Write and balance the equation

    C7H16 + 11 O2 - > 7 CO2 + 8 H2O

According to the stoichiometry of the reaction one mol of heptane will react with 11 mol of molecular oxygen, then

    1.42 mol O2 x 1 mol heptane / 11 mol O2 = 0.129 mol
