    The ether that is formed when ethyl alcohol is heated in the presence of sulfuric acid that is concentrated is called diethyl ether. Heating the alcohol breaks the bond between the R group and the OH group forming an ether. The formula of the ether would be CH3CH2OCH2CH3.
