What happens if you don't use enough solvent for a recrystallization?

    With too little solvent, recrystallization occurs too quickly due to massive nucleation upon the flask becoming cooler. The crystals do not grow fully in this shortened period of time, as the solvent precipitates before the reaction is complete. Nucleation of the crystals also means more impurities in the final product ...
