Placed in a dirty linen container. Even if linens are not used, they must be washed to comply with safety regulations. There can still have been things placed on them, the person may have sat on them, etc. They may not have been clearly used, but they were in another person's room and therefore must be cleaned as if they had been directly used by the person.
