The structure of the nucleic acids are having three functional groups, namely, sugar, phosphate group and nitrogenous base. The only source of nucleic acids is your human body in the form of DNA and RNA. They are not obtained from the external environment. This is because the only purpose of nucleic acids are containing the genetic information and the transcription of amino acids to form proteins.
