Based on the table you completed in question 1 what distinguishes a neutral atom from an ion answers

    A neutral atom is when the number of protons is equal to the number of electrons in an atom. In this way, the positive and negative charges cancel out. Otherwise, the atom becomes an ion. When the protons are greater than electrons, we have a positive ion (cation). The opposite is a negative ion (anion).
