    The heat needed is calculated as follows

    Q = mc delta T

    m = mass = 500g

    c = specific heat capacity = 4.18 j g c

    delta T = change in temperature 100 - 20 = 80 c

    Q is therefore = 500g x 4.18 j g c x 80 c = 167,200j or in Kj = 167200/1000=167.2 kj
