How can a cosmic impact affect life on Earth?

    I depend on what size it is because meteors strike earth once a month most of them landing in the sea. But if the meteor were large enough it would effectively be like striking every inch of the earth with a hydrogen bomb. Earth would no longer be inhabitable.
