Why might gold jewelry from the middle ages appear to be new while iron swords from the same time look ancient?

    Gold does not rust or grow fungis easily ... (gold does not react to oxigen) where as iron does react rather quickly ... so your answer is that one reacts to xegen and water whereas the other/gold does not ...
