What happened when you put small piece of k (potassium) element in a water?

    It's not "piece", it's "amount.' And the metal would first dissolve in the water and float. It forms potassium hydroxide and hydrogen gas which then react with each other. The reaction also lights the potassium metal on fire producing a lilac flame. The reaction is exothermic.
