7. Carbon dioxide is collected over water at a temperature of 35 °C. The pressure of water vapor at 35 ˚C is 42.2 torr. The pressure of the collected gas (water vapor + carbon dioxide) has a pressure of 0.789 atm, what is the pressure of the carbon dioxide in atmospheres (atm) ?

    Answer: 0.733atm

    Explanation:

    760torr = 1atm

    42.2 torr = 42.2 / 760 = 0.056atm

    Pressure of water vapour = 0.056atm

    Measure pressure = 0.789 atm

    Pressure of atmosphere = 0.789 - 0.056 = 0.733atm
