    The mass of carbon dioxide produced will be 732g

    Explanation:

    To find the mass of carbon dioxide produced, first of all write the balanced equation for the complete combustion of octane. Note that octane is the 8th member of alkane series I. e C8H18. Thus:

    2C8H18 + 25O2 = => 18CO2 + 9H2O

    Then calculate the mass of 18CO2 taking molar mass of carbon to be 12 and that of oxygen to be 16. Thus

    18 * (12 + [16*2])

    =18 * (12+32)

    = 732g
