The empirical formula of the compound is CH

    Explanation:

We are provided with the information that C has 92% and H has 8% in the compound

Note % is also written in mass ie grams (g)

    Molar mass of C - 12.0107

    Molar mass of H - 1.00784

    C. H

    92g. 8g

Divided by the number of molar mass to get the number of moles

    92g. 8g

    12.0107. 1.00784

    = 7.6598. = 7.9378

Divide through by the number of mole that has the lowest value

    7.6598/7.6598 7.9378/7.6598

    = 1. = 1.363

    Therefore C has 1 = 1

    H has 1.363 = 1

    The empirical formula = CH
