What are the differences and similarities between ionic compounds and covalent compounds?

    OK - quick version, alright? Ionic compounds are held together by virtue of the difference in their charges. Like a Salt. NaCl. Na + plus Cl-

    But Covalent compounds SHARE their electrons, like Methyl Alcohol. CH3OH. This is toxic!
