33. You are given a flask that contains sea water that has been contaminated with oil. Some sand is

also present in the flask. Describe how you would separate the sand, oil, sea salt, and water

from each other.

    By Filtration, Distillation, and then using a Separating Funnel

    Explanation:

    1) Use filtration to separate sand from sea water. Sand remains on the filter paper and the rest of salty water with oil is collected in the flask.'

    2) Use distillation to separate salt from the water and oil collected in the flask. Water boils at 100°C, salt doesn't. So evaporate the water an then condense it in another container.

    3) Use Separating Funnel to separate oil and water as both have different density.
