    Steroid contains a steroidal ring and are devoid of fatty acid chain. The steroidal nucleus is a fused ring consisting of three six membered rings, and a five membered ring.

    Examples of steroidal molecules include, cholesterol, steroidal hormones such as estrogen (estradiol) progestrone, testoterone and corticosteroidal hormones such as cortisol, aldosterone and cortisone.
