Consider the most stable ions which are formed by the elements Cs, Ba, Te, and I. which element will form the ion with the largest radius?

    Cs, Ba belong to 1 st and 2 nd group of 6 th period of periodic table. Te and I belong to 16 the and 17 the group of 5 the period of periodic table.

    We know that as we move to the right in a period, atomic radius decreases and if we move up in a group, atomic radius decreases. On the basis of this fact, we can conclude that Cs will have largest radius and I will have smallest radius. I will be most stable.
