The change in direction of polarity causes these linear patterns

    Explanation:

It has been discovered by scientists that the magnetic field of the earth, has reversed its direction of polarity severally over millions of years. This means the magnetic north pole moves to where the magnetic south pole is and vice versa. These reversals in the direction of the Earth's magnetic field at the mid-ocean ridge, creates a symmetrical pattern of magnetic stripes of opposite polarity, appearing as linear lines.
