    Sodium hydroxide dissociates as this:

    NaOH (aq) ← Na⁺ (aq) + OH⁻ (aq)

    So OH⁻ bonds to the H₃O⁺ to make water.

    H₃O⁺ + OH⁻ ⇄ 2H₂O Kw

    The reaction for neutratlization is:
