An electron will excite when it gets extra energy.

    Explanation:

Matters are made up of atoms and inside the atom, there is a nucleus and electrons. Nucleus has a positive charge and electron has a negative charge. The nucleus is situating at the centre of the atom and the electrons are present on the shells. These electrons having different energy levels but all the electrons are orbit the nucleus in the atom. Whenever an electron occupying an energy state which is larger than its ground state, then it is an excited state. Electrons will get excited when they gain some extra energy. The electron will get extra energy when they collide with the nearby particle or atoms, absorbing protons and absorbing packets of light.
