Sulphur oxides get dissolved into the rain water from the atmosphere forming different acids which come along the rain forming the acid rain.

    Explanation:

Sulphur is one of the most abundant elements found on Earth's crust. Its a part of different substances like wood, petrol, coal and different other fuels which when combusted gives off the Sulphur compounds as their gaseous oxides

commonly denoted as SOₓ, where main compounds are SO₂, SO₃, S₂O₃ etc. These gases go up in the air being lighter than normal air and up above the atmosphere, it mixes with the clouds and rains forming sulphurous acid, sulphuric acid etc. These acids gets mixed up with the rain water and comes down to the Earth's surface.

As the acid rain falls on different plants, it destroys them. Different marble structures are destroyed. The aquatic ecosystem suffers a lot due to this. Soil fertility is also lost due to this.
