3. A certain paint has a density of 0.914 g/mL. You need to cover a wall that is 7.6

meters long and 2.74 meters wide with a layer of paint that is 0.13 mm thick. What

volume of paint (in liters and gallons) is required? What is the mass (in grams and

pounds) of the paint layer?

    1) first we need to get the volume in m^3 by using the following format:

    volume = the area of the wall * the thickness of the wall

    when the area = the long * the wide

    so by substitution:

    volume = (7.6 m * 2.74 m) * 0.00013 m

    = 0.0027 m^3

    a) when 1 m^3 = 1000 liters

    so the volume in liters = 0.0027 * 1000 = 2.7 liter

    b) when 1 m^3 = 264.172 gallons

    so the volume in gallons = 0.7132645414 gallons

    2) the mass formula is:

    mass = the volume * density

    = 2700 ml * 0.914 g/mL

    = 2467.8 g = 2.467 Kg

    1 g = 0.00220462 pounds

    so mass in pounds = 5.4 pounds
