    Explanation:

    When ore is extracted from below the surface of Earth by following a safe procedure which is also economically balanced is known as underground mining.

    A horizontal or vertical tunnel can be drafted or made in order to reach from surface of the Earth to underground mine.

    This tunnel is known as shaft or decline. This mining can lead to collapse of the land and it also causes sink holes.

    Hence, one has to be very careful during this process of mining and proper safety measures should be followed.

    Thus, we can conclude that the statement underground mining increases risk of land collapse and sinkholes, is true about environmental risk of underground mining.
