Answer: A) A covalent bond is formed through the transfer of electrons from one atom to another.

Explanation: Covalent Bond is formed through the transfer of valence shell electrons from one atom to the another.

The electrons which are sharing between the atoms are known as shared pair of electrons that is Bonding electrons rather than lone pairs. Lone pairs of electrons are those which are non bonding electrons and are not involved in bonding.

The balance between the electrostatic forces of attraction between the electrons of on atom an nucleus of another and repulsive forces between electrons leads to the formation of the stable electrons.

It is possible for two atoms to share more than 2 electrons as more the number of electrons present in the valence shell, more would be the sharing to complete each others octet.
