The two agents that are the biggest proponents of chemical weathering are water and carbon dioxide. Water is used in a process called Hydrolysis which uses it to break down substances such feldspar in granite rocks changing to clay. While Carbon Dioxide in the atmosphere dissolves in rainwater forming carbonic acid, which slowly dissolve rocks when it comes into contact with them.
