Issues of stability. Proteins are quite stable. The lifetime of a peptide bond in aqueous solution is nearly 1000 years. However, the free energy of hydrolysis of proteins is nega - tive and quite large. How can you account for the stability of the peptide bond in light of the fact that hydrolysis releases much energy

    Explanation:

    A Peptide bond is a covalent linkage between two amino groups of proteins. A Peptide bond is a covalent bond that is present between the two protein molecules that are carboxyl group - COOH of one molecule of protein and the amino group - NH2 of other molecules of protein. A Peptide bond is stable as the hydrolysis process is very slow which is due to the resonance present between the bonds. Hydrolysis releases much energy as the Peptide bond is the most durable covalent type of bond.
