You have an ionic compound made of calcium and chloride ions. How many of each ion is needed to make the total charge of the compound 0 (zero) ?

    Calcium would be

    Ca2 + as 2.8.8.2

    And Chlorine will be

    Cl - because 2.8.7

    Hence to make the charge neutral,

    You need 1 Calcium ion and 2 Chloride ion,

    Forming CaCl2
