What occurs in a displacement reaction

    Explanation:

    One atom in an ionic compound is displaced by another atom.

    For example:

    Fe + CuSO4 - --> FeSO4 + Cu.

    the copper is displaced by the iron,

    Basically this happens because iron is more reactive than copper.
