Calculate the number of moles of oxygen in a 16.3-L tank if the pressure is 331 kPa and the temperature is 197.4°C.

    = 1.38 moles

    Explanation;

    Using the equation;

    PV = nRT, where P is the pressure,. V is the volume, n is the number of moles and T is the temperature and R is the gas constant, 0.08206 L. atm. mol-1.

    P = 331 000Pa or 3.267 atm T = 197.4 + 273 = 470.4, V = 16.3 L

    Therefore;

    n = PV/RT

    = (3.267 * 16.3) / (470.4 * 0.08206)

    = 1.3796 moles

    ≈ 1.38 moles
