Propyl and butyl groups are the alkyl groups formed by replacing the one hydrogen atom from their corresponding alkanes.

Propyl is formed from propane and has n-propyl and isopropyl alkyl isomers.

Butyl is from butane and has n-butyl, isobutyl, sec-butyl and tertiary butyl alkyl isomers.
