    Sunlight. and maybe dead wood and sticks.

    Explanation:

    Lots of trees compete for the most sunlight. That's why if you go to a rain forest, there are different levels of ecosystems and sizes of trees.

    Both beavers and otters compete for these sticks, if the beavers don't build strong enough, their home will collapse.
