A wave travels 12 m east in 3.0 s. What is the velocity of the wave?

    Answer: + 4 m/s

    Working Out:

    V = Δ x : Δ t; where V = velocity, Δ x = displacement, Δ t = change in time

    V = Δ x : Δ t

    V = (12 m east) : 3.0 s

    V = 4 m/s to the east OR V = + 4 m/s

    ∴ The velocity of the wave is + 4 m/s
