Describe the major steps of gene transcription and translation. What molecules and organelles are involved in the process?

    Transcription is the process of making mRNA. Since there is no nucleus in a prokaryotic cell, it can be immediately translated. In eukaryotic cells, transcription occurs in the nucleus, and then translated in the cytoplasm. RNA polymerase joins RNA nucleotides according to the base sequence in DNA.
