Why are gases easier to compress than liquids and solids

    In gases the particles are arranged further apart than in a liquid.

    In liquids there is little space between the individual particles, so they cannot pack together.

    A gas is composed of the large amounts of empty space between the gas particles meaning it can be compressed.
