    the electron energy level of the hydrogen atom can be written as:

    En = - 2.179*10^-18 J / n^2

    Thus for n = 3: E3 = - 2.421x10^-19 J

    For n = 5: E5 = - 8.72x10^-20 J

    Hence the energy difference between the n=3 state & n=5 state is:

    2.421x10^-19J - 8.72x10^-20J

    = 1.549x10^-19 J
