Pam stirred a packet of fruit punch drink mix into a pitcher of 6 cups of warm water until it dissolved. She then put in 10 ice cubes to cool down the mixture before she drank it. Pam's brother Nate watched her make the drink and said that two physical changes had occurred. Pam thought only one had happened. Who was right?

b. Nate was right. The ice cubes melted and the drink mix dissolved into the water. Both are physical changes.

    B is the answer because you can still get the both the mix and the ice back with out chemically changing it

    Explanation:

    A physical change is the one that does not lead to any change in chemical composition of a substance.

    For example, when a pack of fruit punch gets dissolved into the warm water it means a physical change has occurred because no change in chemical composition of fruit punch has occurred.

    Also, when Pam added ice cubes into the warm water in which fruit punch was mixed then the ice will melt into the water. And, as solid state of water that is, ice is changing into liquid state so, it is also a physical change.

    Thus, we can conclude that Nate was right. The ice cubes melted and the drink mix dissolved into the water. Both are physical changes.
