The molecular formula of lauryl alcohol is C12H26O

the approximate molar mass of lauryl alcohol is calculate the mass of 12 carbon, 26 hydrtogen and one oxygen as follows:

    12 C * 12.01 g / mole + 26 H*1.008 g / mole + 15.99 g/mole

    = 144.12 g / mole + 26.208 g / mole + 15.99 g/mole

    = 186.318 g / mole
