    The new volume is 0.25 L

    calculation

    The new volume is calculated using the Boyles law formula

    that is P1V1 = P2V2 where,

    P1 = 250 atm

    V1 = 0.05 L

    P2 = 50.0 atm

    V2 = ? L

    make V2 the subject of the formula by dividing both side by P2

    V2 = P1V1 / P2

    V2 = [ (0.05 L x 250 atm) / 50.0 atm] = 0.25 L
