A substance in a beaker has a temperature of 22 degrees Celsius. At 1:00, you begin to heat it. After 14 minutes, its temperature reaches 48 degrees Celsius, and you stop heating it. By 2:03, it has cooled back down to 22 degrees Celsius. How long did it take to cool?

    The initial temperature of the substance = 22° C.

    After 14 minutes from 1:00 that is at 1:14 the temperature reaches 48 degrees. The heating is stopped at that instant.

    By 2:03, it has cooled back down to 22 degrees Celsius. This mean between 1:14 to 2:03 the temperature reaches back to 22°C.

    therefore, it took 39 minutes for this to happen.
