Answer: J J Thomson provided the first evidence that atoms contain subatomic particles.

    Explanation:

    J. J Thomson in his model of atom explained that inside an atom negatively charged subatomic particle is present which was named as 'electrons'. The experiment conducted by him which made him conclude that was 'Cathode Ray Experiment'.

After the discovery of electrons, Ernest Rutherford had given the evidence of the positive charge present in the center of the atom which is known as nucleus.

According to John Dalton theory of atomic structure, matter is composed of smallest particle called atom which cannot be divided further. This theory was proposed before the discovery of subatomic particles.
